A Message For My Sane Republican Friends
A good Republican friend of mine suggested that I take a little edge off my essays. He suggested that my writings should be less of a “personal” attack on Trump. That I could be more “objectively neutral”, and “less polarizing” in the process.
Nope! That’s not my intent.
You see, I believe Trump is a bad actor. I believe he is responsible for the erosion of freedoms, the rule of law, our place in the world order, and the loss of our shared moral high ground. I’m upset that the foundational pillars of our society: liberty, justice, and truth, are being tyrannized by a criminal surrounded by criminals who are wittingly dismantling our government institutions, health-care progress, and social safety nets. But what really concerns me about Trump’s brand of leadership is the naïveté of all those that follow him, without question, without challenge.
Here’s why:
He pardons 1,500 J6 criminals…we say nothing.
He adds 27% to the national debt…we say nothing.
He gets charged for raping a woman and sexually assaulting 28 others…we say nothing.
He bulldozes the rose garden and the East Wing…we say nothing.
He blocks the release of 38,000 mentions in the Epstein files…we say nothing.
He affixes his name to the Kennedy Center…we say nothing.
He “trumpifies” the Oval Office with tacky, superglued, golden opulence…we say nothing.
He accepts a $400M Qatar airplane and uses $900B of taxpayer money to modify it…we say nothing.
He conducts 3,600 insider stock trades in 2026 and increases his personal wealth to $6.5B…we say nothing.
He threatens Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Greenland, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil…we say nothing.
He bombs Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Pakistan, and Libya…we say nothing.
He tariffs everyone but Russia causing inflation and instability world-wide…we say nothing.
He attacks Iran during mediated negotiations…we say nothing.
His war of choice kills 165 schoolgirls on day one…we say nothing.
He threatens to destroy the entire Iran civilization on Easter Sunday…we say nothing.
He alienates and insults our allies…we say nothing.
His masked ICE goons terrorize and murder US citizens…we say nothing.
He commits war crimes on the high seas…we say nothing.
He co-opts the DOJ and directs it to prosecute his political enemies…we say nothing.
He repeatedly condemns Biden on the G7 world stage…we say nothing
He publicly calls Obama a “son-of-a-bitch” on the G7 world stage …we say nothing.
He claims US press is “fake news” on the G7 world stage …we say nothing.
He unabashedly states US elections are “rigged” on the G7 world stage …we say nothing.
He sabotages the US at the G7, for the world to see…and we say nothing.
I hope we all say something in November!!!
