Stoogette of the Week – Katie Zacharia - NYUK! NYUK! NYUK!
I watched Katia Zacharia’s very first WH press briefing.
It lasted 15 minutes in total. It was less than stellar.
I was going to give this gal a break, and write off her brutal performance to nervousness or not having enough time to prepare. Then I watched as she struggled to read her opening remarks entirely from a pre-prepared script.
Her words sounded eerily familiar. Except this time, the delivery was awkward and stilted.
“The country is experiencing energy and excitement never seen before in history, thanks to President Trump,” Zacharia read haltingly, her eyes glued to the page. She referred to “blockbuster rallies”, “people turning up in droves”, “Americans lining up and packing out arenas to support President Trump and Republicans.”
Reading words like she’d never seen them before in her life, she continued: “He is an energetic president.” Which really feels like a sentence you'd never have to read, except if you’re desperately trying to gaslight those watching, and afraid to make a mistake.
It continued, painfully and awkwardly: mentions of business deals that “no other president” could’ve done. Touting some reference to a “historic facility”, in terms of job creation, “just like he delivers on every promise”. Except that the land for this “historic facility” she refers to, a steel plant in Iowa, has yet to be purchased, and will ultimately create unhistoric numbers of new jobs.
There was one eye-opening sentence about how the president will “secure the western hemisphere for centuries to come,” but there was no explanation on how that would happen.
There were vague references to fentanyl, Greenland, and Venezuela, before three rather softball questions from Breitbart, FOX, and The Daily Mail. Just ultra-right-wing media questions, today, folks.
Afterward, I was thinking that after she gets booted from this botched experiment, she could always go back to being a self-described “corporate attorney”, until I found out she never took a bar exam, let alone passed one.
Or maybe she could start weighing in again on social media where she has posted a number of conspiracy theories, including anti-vaxxer misinformation, an obsession with Democrats being “cannibal pedophiles,” the idea that Putin is a righteous crusader, or the outlandish claim that the Obamas were somehow involved in comedian, Joan Rivers’ death.
All par for the course among these wild-eyed, vacuous, MAGA misfits.
