How's about we let the food industry regulate itself???

Thomas J. Raleigh · August 23, 2026 · 1 min read

MAGA’s far right blueprint, Project 2025, pitches major overhauls to U.S. food policy.  Aside from rolling back SNAP benefits and eliminating federal school meal expansions, it also scales back previous conservation, environmental, and pesticide regulations on agricultural producers.

In trade, we get cyclospora in our lettuce, screw worms in our beef, salmonella in our chicken, eggs, and jalapeño peppers. Then there’s E. coli in our blueberries, listeria in our soft cheeses, and botulism in infant formulas.

I’m betting if we had all those food inspectors and disease prevention scientists in place that druggy Elon and his clueless band of twenty-something scrubs got rid of early last year, we’d be better off.

3,859 folks cut from the FDA.  2,500 let go from the CDC.  874 from the food safety group, and another 913 from the food inspection services.

Probably not such a good idea to let the food industry regulate itself.
