I’ve had another reader response to my September 19 essay, “*Nothing F#%^&\*\* Works Anymore”.* This fellow is friend, and self-described “political advocate”. He lives on the opposite end of the political spectrum, but hopped the fence to my side, which I find admirable.

Exactly what we need if we want to solve problems.

At any rate, and if I understand him correctly, he makes some good points about “bloated” governments, corruption, and how government layoffs, might actually help.

On his bloated government point, I think he was referring to my comments about the Trump administration’s mismanagement, and how massive cuts to the federal workforce are an example. In particular, the dismissal of numerous inspectors general tasked with identifying waste, fraud, and abuse. If you’re looking to combat waste, fraud, and abuse, getting rid of the people charged with doing just that seems counter-productive to me. Not to mention the disregard for government accountability.

Yes, it is good to improve efficiencies and practice fiscal responsibility. But if DOGE was the answer, it clearly failed.

On the subject of corruption, there is no room for interpretation, as far as I'm concerned. Critics, watchdog groups, and a growing number of bipartisan lawmakers agree with my claim that things just don’t work in this Trumped-up governance. All largely due to the corruption, conflicts of interest, and pay-to-play dynamics that define it.

Critics, including many Republicans of late, have accused the president and his family of leveraging U.S. foreign policy, tariffs, and diplomatic access in exchange for massive overseas investments in family-linked real estate, golf courses, and tech partnerships. By any measure, the money trail is incredibly damning. Just look at Trump’s own June 30, 2026, financial disclosure report, which shows personal gains of $1.4B from cryptocurrency trades. Other reports include a well-documented $2B UAE investment into a Trump family venture, a $400M Qatar jet that doesn’t work, over $800M in solicited donations, and more than $600M in Pentagon loans extended to a North Carolina startup linked to Don Jr.

The list goes on, but maybe folks who support this guy can understand my concerns.

NUFF SED!!!
