# A Mid-Term Message to my Republican Friends: What’s with that Cult Jamboree Held in Dallas Last Week?

Did you watch it? Listen to the speeches? No way this was a validation of the “Golden Age” we were promised.

I was hard-pressed to find anything anyone said that could ever be construed as “Making America Great Again”, as you all like to say. All I heard was the tone of the speakers, sounding like they were trying hard just to convince themselves.

I get it.

Inflation is up …not down. Prices on virtually all consumables continue on the rise. As a consequence, net wages are down. Housing is fast becoming unaffordable for most. Bond yields are up leading to higher interest rates across the board. The dollar has lost value. The national debt was not “cut in half” as promised. It now exceeds $40T. The suggestion that we’re “building manufacturing plants all over the country” is just bull-shit. There have been no promised health care programs from this administration. The “no new wars” guarantee was a lie. Tariffs are not working, nor have foreign countries “invested $21 trillion” towards anyone’s well-being.

In that echo chamber shindig, there were no new doctrines, hopeful manifestos, or sensible blueprints for “Making America Great Again”. No new ideas, whatsoever. Instead, you got your usual gibberish marathons, a pledge of allegiance to Snoozy D, a $5K bribe, repetitive fearmongering about socialists and communists. And countless calls against men in women’s sports. 

The highlight was when they paraded out their wonk-eyed Senate candidate, who bombed horribly on the list of jokes he seemingly prepared for himself. Never mind that the crook was impeached by his own party. It only makes sense that he should run for the Senate.

I wish more Republicans would take note. 

“Make America Great Again?” I think not.
